I first discovered photography on my 18th birthday when I was given my first camera, a Nikon F301. All my friends at school hung out in the dark room and so soon, too, did I. It wasn’t long before I knew that photography was going to be my life, so after rejecting some more conventional ‘career paths’, I graduated from Northumbria University with a BA Hons in Contemporary Photography and set about perfecting my craft.
20 years, a labrador and one delightful daughter later, I am still just as excited as ever about capturing the essence of someone special, the perfect landscape or the magical connection between two people on their wedding day. Great photography elicits powerful emotions.
I take a fresh approach to every commission and am not a fan of props, poses or photoshop. A beautiful photo will stand on its own merits and I prefer to use natural light, often shooting portraits outdoors at a favourite spot and taking the time to let people relax and to shine.
I want to take photographs that are of the highest quality, both creatively and technically, to give you portraits that you’ll treasure for years to come. I have an Epson 7880 printer that I use for all my prints, which not only produces exceptionally good images, (giclee quality) but can also print on a number of paper finishes and textures. These are of a higher quality than a standard laboratory print and will stay beautiful for your great grandchildren to enjoy.
I am John Faulkner and thank you for visiting my website. I do hope you like my work and feel free to get in touch with me any time.
